Uhm! Publishing presents Concrete Aesthetic Volume 10 No 1 Poultry by Elliott Sargent.
The new zine looks at one of London's most recognisable late twentieth-century buildings. Designed by James Stirling and completed in 1997, No 1 Poultry occupies a prominent site in the City of London and is known for its bold geometry, layered facades and playful use of colour and form. The building reflects a postmodern approach to architecture that challenged the surrounding historic context while engaging directly with the street.
Elliott Sargent’s photographs offer a measured and thoughtful reading of the building, focusing on rhythm, proportion and surface. Stripped of colour, the images emphasise mass, shadow and structure, allowing the complexity of Stirling's design to be read through light and form.
